The wind swept sand dunes support a unique variety of rare plants and animals that create exceptional pine barrens natural communities. Explore the landscape around you. The Discovery Center

The Discovery Center 
is your best first stop when visiting the area. Gather at the Discovery Center and learn about the natural, geologic and cultural history of the area through our interactive exhibits. Talk to our interpretive staff and get the most up-to-date information about trail closures, conditions and maps. Grab a bottle of water and gear from our Gift Shop and hit the trail in the know.

The Preserve

is 3,400 acres and is host to a unique diversity of plants and animals.  Hike one of our over 20 miles of multi-use passive recreational trails to explore this sandy oasis in the middle of the Capital Region.
