Science Lecture Series Webinar: Afterburn! The Ecological response to the 2018 Altona Flat Rock Wildfire

In 2018 a wildfire burned 225 hectares of jack pine sandstone pavement barrens at the Altona Flat Rock in northern New York.Starting immediately after the wildfire in fall 2018, Dr. Danielle Garneau and Dr. Mark Lesser and their students from SUNY Plattsburgh began tracking the forest, wildlife, and insect community response and recovery from this disturbance. In this presentation they will discuss the unique ecosystem that the Flat Rock represents and share results from their ongoing research.
