Virtual School Programs

Looking for a one-of-a-kind virtual learning experience for your students? The globally rare Albany Pine Bush Preserve offers schools a locally unique destination for distance learning. Our Educators offer live, interactive online learning experiences for a variety of grade levels.

List of Virtual School Programs

Discover the Pine Bush- (30 min) Join Albany Pine Bush Preserve staff on a virtual journey into the Pine Bush and discover one of the last remaining examples of an inland pitch pine-scrub oak barrens. Through remote experience, students will be introduced to the geology, ecology, and unique diversity of life in the Pine Bush, as well as how we are working to ensure the survival of this landscape for generations to come. Staff will be hiking live and streaming through your virtual classroom. Weather permitting. Grades: All

 

Help A Habitat- (40-60 min) In this program, there are four options available to best fit your classroom and students. Please see Help a Habitat Program Option flyer for detailed information. All options include a presentation on the endangered Karner blue butterfly, an interactive habitat game, and a Karner blue project.  Grades: 1-4

 

Terrific Turtles- (30 min) If you are looking for a program about our local turtles, this virtual program is for you! Join Albany Pine Bush Preserve staff online for a Power Point presentation on local turtles and their natural history followed by the opportunity to meet one of the three live turtles that call the Albany Pine Bush Discovery Center their home. Additional materials and activities provided based on grade level. Grades: All

Programs need to be scheduled at least two weeks in advance. Our schedule fills quickly so please make plans early.

How much does it cost?

Program fees have been temporarily waived. At this time, all education programs are free.
