Stop by the Discovery Center and pick up the latest Albany Pine Bush Preserve kids’ activity kit from Smokey Bear himself! In this kit, kids will learn about the story of Smokey Bear and his message of fire safety as well as the necessary role fire plays in the pine barrens of the Albany Pine Bush. Kits will be distributed on a first come-first served basis from 4pm – 5:30pm at the Albany Pine Bush Discovery Center. As you drive up to pick up your kit, wave to Smokey, our local NYSDEC Forest Ranger and staff of the Albany Pine Bush Preserve!
When you arrive at the Discovery Center follow the signs to the bus parking area in front of the building. We will be set up there to hand you your kit as you drive up.
Albany Pine Bush Discovery Center
From I-87 take exit 2W (Rt 5 West, Central Avenue). Follow Rt 5 for about 2 miles then turn left onto Rt 155 (New Karner Rd). Continue on Rt 155 for about 1.2 miles. The Discovery Center is located on the left at 195 New Karner Road. (518)456-0655
