Want to get into birding, but don't know where to start? Come explore the Yellow Trail at Karner Barrens as we walk through the preserve and look for birds! Join us this morning to learn how to use binoculars and identify birds by sight and sound. This program is suitable for tweens, teens and adults.

Nature Journaling - Let's Draw Flowers!

Come spend part of your day with us as we draw inspiration from the nature and pause to observe life in the Pine Bush. We will start in the Discovery Center to explore some simple journaling activities and then continue outside for a 0.9 mile hike to practice journaling.
Tuesday, August 25, 2026 | 6:00 pm
Stop by the Discovery Center to see science in action and help us count Common Nighthawks flying over the preserve as they continue on their over 6,000-mile southward migration. Suitable for tweens, teens and adults.

Start your day outdoors and join us for a hike in the Blueberry Hill West region of the Albany Pine Bush Preserve. Suitable for all ages.

Join us for a short, inside presentation on the two species of fox that live in the Pine Bush. We will then continue outside for a 0.9 mile hike over rolling sand dunes to look for signs that foxes are here. This program is suitable for tweens, teens and adults.

Did you know there are three squirrel species native to the Pine Bush, and each plays an important role in the Pine Bush ecosystem? Come join us for a brief indoor presentation on the three squirrel species in the Pine Bush followed by a 1+ mile hike to explore squirrel habitat and investigate the many signs they leave behind.
