Science Lecture Series Webinar: Shifting Paradigms – Ecosystem Restoration is Not Maintenance in Degraded Pitch Pine-Scrub Oak Barrens

Attempting to restore ecosystem dynamics and endangered wildlife habitat in highly degraded fire-dependent ecosystems by simply applying what we know of historical disturbance regimes can be logistically challenging and ecologically ineffective. This evening’s presentation, by Conservation Director Neil Gifford, will examine solutions to the many logistical challenges associated with successfully using fire in a fragmented urban landscape and highlight important differences between restoration and maintenance fire regimes.
